Liebert UPS end of life: NPower, NX, Series 600, GXT3 and GXT4, with the replacements Vertiv names

· 7 min read

Vertiv’s product pages list the Liebert NPower 30-130kVA, NX 10-30kVA, 40-200kVA and 225-600kVA, Series 600 and GXT3 as discontinued, and name a replacement for each: EXM for the NPower and smaller NX, EXL S1 for the large NX, NXL for the Series 600, GXT5 for the GXT3. None gives an end-of-support date.

This page records what each Vertiv product page showed when it was read on October 12, 2026, from Canada, after the site’s region prompt. Where the Canadian and US pages differ, both are given.

What the Discontinued label says, and what it does not

On the NPower and Series 600 pages, Vertiv writes one line: this product is discontinued. The NPower, NX and Series 600 pages each carry a “Replaced by” line; the US NXL page and the Canadian GXT3 model page carry none. The NPower page and the US NX 10-30kVA page list their manuals, each labelled Discontinued Product.

None of the pages gives a date for the end of parts or service support. For a firm answer on parts for a particular unit, ask Vertiv with the model and serial number, and keep the reply with the unit’s maintenance records. Until a replacement is funded, Vertiv Liebert UPS service keeps the existing frame inspected and its batteries tested.

NPower and NX: the EXM and EXL S1

The NX 40-200kVA page describes a double conversion three-phase UPS that grows from 40 to 60 to 80 kVA, and from 80 to 100 to 120 kVA, and that may be paralleled for capacity or redundancy. Vertiv names the EXM as the replacement for it, for the NX 10-30kVA and for the NPower 30-130kVA.

The EXM is a current product on both the Canadian and US pages, with a one year limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship. Its US page gives 10-200kVA/kW at 208 V; at 480 V the page text says 50-250 kVA/kW while its model table lists 30-250 kVA/kW. See our Liebert EXM page for service.

For the NX 225-600kVA/kW, Vertiv names the EXL S1 250-1200kW. The EXL S1 can be paralleled up to 8 units, distributed or centralized. The Liebert APM, which none of these discontinued pages names as a replacement, is a current product: a row-based, transformerless on-line UPS that scales by adding power modules; see our Liebert APM page.

The EXM, EXL S1 and APM in brief

Liebert EXM, APM and EXL S1: Vertiv’s pages read October 12, 2026; EXL S1 parallel figure from the maker’s specification compiled October 11, 2026

Liebert APM 45kVA/kW frame208 V, three-phase; expandable from 15 to 45kVA/kW, or up to 30kVA/kW with a 15kVA/kW module kept for redundancy; internal batteries, compatible with the matching external battery cabinet
Liebert APM 90kVA/kW frame208 V, three-phase; expandable from 15 to 90kVA/kW, or up to 75kVA/kW with a 15kVA/kW module kept for redundancy; requires the matching external battery cabinet
Liebert EXL S1Named for the NX 225-600kVA/kW; 250-1200kW; parallel up to 8 units, distributed or centralized

Vertiv’s pages do not describe the move from an NX or NPower to an EXM or EXL S1. For service on an EXM, see our EXM page.

The Series 600 and the NXL

The Series 600 page names the NXL as its replacement. The NXL itself is shown differently by region: Vertiv’s US catalogue lists it as discontinued with no replacement named, while its Canadian page still shows it as a current product, with capacities of 250, 300, 400, 500, 625, 750 and 1100 kVA at 480, 575 and 600 V. Check with Vertiv before planning around either status.

GXT3 and GXT4

The GXT3 is listed as discontinued on both pages; the US family page names the GXT5 500-3000VA, 120 V, double conversion rack/tower model as its replacement. For the GXT4, no status could be read on October 12: the product page showed a not-available-in-your-region block in all five Vertiv regions tried, and no end-of-life notice was found on vertiv.com. Vertiv’s warranty page still offers extended warranties by GXT4 model number. For GXT4 and GXT5 batteries, see Liebert GXT4 and GXT5 battery replacement and our Liebert GXT page.

Planning around a discontinued Liebert UPS

  • Write down the exact model and serial number from the nameplate before you ask Vertiv about parts.
  • Keep the unit maintained while it runs: see preventive maintenance and battery replacement.
  • Know the replacement Vertiv names: the table above gives it for each family.
  • For a failure on an older unit, see emergency repair services.
