The Vertiv ITA is the current-generation online double-conversion rack UPS — 1 to 20 kVA, 2U / 3U / 4U form factors, optional lithium-ion batteries for eight-to-ten year service life. It is the standard modernization target for aging Canadian Liebert PSI 3-1500 fleets and end-of-service GXT3 / GXT4 installs.

What we service on the Vertiv ITA

Battery pack replacement — VRLA and lithium-ion

ITA customers choose battery chemistry based on the deployment economics. Sealed-lead-acid packs are lower up-front cost with three-to-five year service life — typical for cost-sensitive branch and retail deployments. Lithium-ion packs are higher up-front cost but eight-to-ten year service life, fewer service visits over the equipment lifetime, and a smaller environmental footprint at end of life. We replace both chemistries and convert customers between them where the rack and load support it.

Online double-conversion topology

ITA delivers true online double-conversion — every cycle of utility power feeds through the rectifier and inverter, the load sees a continuous clean sinewave, and the transfer-to-battery on a utility event is sub-cycle. This is what medical imaging, laboratory instrumentation, broadcast video and financial-services back-office workstations need. The trade-off relative to a line-interactive UPS like the older Liebert PSI is slightly higher heat dissipation under load — sized correctly, this is a non-issue in conditioned server-room space.

SNMP card configuration and remote monitoring

ITA accepts current Vertiv SNMP communication cards (IS-UNITY and the newer RDU101 generation). We configure SNMPv3, set up trap destinations, integrate with customer NMS platforms, configure graceful-shutdown integration with VMware, Hyper-V and Linux KVM hypervisors, and verify alarm routing through to the on-call rotation.

Migration commissioning from end-of-life PSI and GXT

The standard ITA project we plan in Canada is the replacement of an aging Liebert PSI 3-1500 or GXT3 / GXT4 installation in the same rack footprint. ITA fits the same 2U or 3U slots, accepts current SNMP cards (older Liebert IntelliSlot cards do not migrate forward), and offers the lithium-ion option that the original PSI never had. Where the customer has a fleet — multiple branches, multiple clinics, multiple regional offices — we plan the refresh as a phased program with a rolling replacement schedule.

Preventive maintenance

Annual visits for ITA include: load test at rated capacity, battery internal-impedance check, output-waveform verification, SNMP card health, fan-bearing acoustic check, and a written report for facility audit files. For multi-site programs, we schedule rolling PM with a single point of contact.
